New Beginnings: Building a Community of Hope
Monday evening, January 19, 2008 7:00 pm - 8:30pm
Santa Clara University Benson Student Center
Come join us on the evening of January 19, 2009 for an Interfaith citizens celebration and dedication on the momentous occasion of the inauguration of President Barack Hussein Obama.
This important day also commemorates Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a federal holiday marking the birthdate of the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. who taught nonviolence and social
justice, leading people of all ages and
backgrounds to come together to improve
lives, and bridge social barriers.
Gather to recommit to a community of hope and peace on this historic occasion
There will be singing, inspirational presentations, time for meditation or prayer, and time to recommit ourselves to the work of building a community of hope together.
The Honorable LaDoris Cordell, retired Santa
Clara Superior Court
Judge, community leader, educator, and nationally known human
rights advocate will be the keynote speaker. She will be
reflecting on "Building a Community of Hope".
Gather with your neighbors and fellow citizens from Silicon Valley and the greater Bay Area on the eve of this historic occasion.
Co-Sponsored by Silicon Valley FACES and South Bay Interfaith.
The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Writing, Art and Multimedia Contest, sponsored by Silicon Valley FACES, empowers high school youth to translate timeless lessons in diversity leadership into contemporary life.
